William Pitt Union (WPU)
All events in the WPU will begin at 9 am. Pre-registration is recommended for attendance to any of the speaker sessions due to limited seating. All registered attendees will be eligible to be entered into a prize drawing during each session.
Supplier Exhibit - Assembly Room
University contracted suppliers will exhibit green and/or sustainable products. Scheduled supplier exhibits include: Adden Furniture, Apple, AT&T, CDW Government Inc, DAI Scientific, Dell Computer, Dormont Appliance Centers, Grainger, Hewlett Packard, Invitrogen, ISC BioExpress, KI, Office Depot, Roche, Sanyo, Scott Electric, Target Office Products, The Baker Company, Thermo Scientific, Verizon Wireless and VWR International. University of Pittsburgh Exhibit - Assembly Room
University of Pittsburgh departments will be featuring informational booths highlighting sustainability projects and initiatives at the University. Participating departments include: Environmental Health and Safety, Facilities, Housing and Food Services, Parking and Transportation, Surplus Property, and the University Times. Surplus Property will be able to collect any used toner cartridges for recycling at their booth.
Sustainable Spaces Display - Ballroom
Stop by the Ballroom for an opportunity to walk through sustainable spaces built by University contracted suppliers. Featured spaces include a dorm, two offices and a lab with opportunities to discuss features and benefits of why each space is sustainable. Sustain-A-Bowl - Kurtzman Room
Vote for your favorite booth at the Sustain-A-Bowl! Student organizations will be featuring informational booths constructed from salvaged and/or recyclable materials. They will also display an art exhibit and a sculpture made from dumpster diving findings. WPTS will be on site to DJ this event. All voters will be automatically entered into a drawing for one of several great prizes including a Blackberry Storm, American Eagle gear and gift sets from Bill Deasy, Alli Gillis Band, No Bad Ju Ju and more!
Speaker Symposium - Lower Lounge and Dining Room B
Sign up for an educational workshop session to learn more from local sustainability experts from around the Tri-state area. Topics to include: building your own compost or rain water receptacle, biking 101, developing a sustainable community and many more. Sustainable Street Fair and Food Court - Sidewalk and Driveway
Local food vendors, including Isadore Foods, Maggie's Mercantile, Red Oak Café, Right by Nature, and Sand Hill Berry Farm, will be featured on the sidewalk and driveway in front of the William Pitt Union. A variety of environmentally friendly vehicles will be featured including the Port Authority Hybrid bus, Commute Info van, two University of Pittsburgh Veggiemobiles, two Vespa scooters and a selection of Hybrid cars from Baierl Automotive. The Port Authority will also offer demonstrations on the use of the bus bike racks.
Charity Bicycle Build-A-Thon - Lawn – 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Student participants from surrounding schools will be participating in the bicycle build-a-thon. Five teams will be competing head to head to see who can build their bike first and win the race! Brand new BMX bikes, a helmet and bike lock will be donated to children from the Hazelwood YMCA and Community Human Services Corporation at the end of the event. Craft Fair
I Made It! Market is a "nomadic market" that gives craftspeople and entrepreneurs in the Pittsburgh region a chance to show their wares including usual crafty things such as jewelry, clothing, lotions, soaps, kitchen and household items and much, much more. The crafters will be featuring products that encompass sustainable characteristics that include: eco-friendly, all natural, organic, fair trade, repurposed and green. Crafters will be located directly across from the University of Pittsburgh’s Hillman Library.

- We will be collecting donations for the PITTSBURGH FALLEN HEROS FUND. Please stop by to show your support!
- Pittsburgh’s own TABLE Magazine has a booth dedicated to celebrating food culture and lifestyle in our region
- Meet and get your picture taken with Buster the Recycling Raccoon from the City of Pittsburgh’s recycling division
- Pittsburgh Public Works with be on site to promote the City of Pittsburgh’s new recycling program
- Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy has sponsored FREE rides on the PNC Carousel between noon and 5 p.m.
Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will have a selection of books and resources about sustainability on hand. Sign up for a library card - borrowing instead of buying saves trees!
